How to judge whether a product is suitable for thermal transfer

How to judge whether a product is suitable for thermal transfer

1 Range of products suitable for thermal transfer
The thermal transfer process is suitable for printing on the flat, curved, special-shaped (partial), cylindrical and conical surfaces of plastics (ABS, AS, PS, PVC, EVA, PP, PE, PET), metals, leather, ceramics, wood and other products. It is widely used in the printing and decoration of products in the industries of daily necessities, cosmetics, stationery, toys, building materials, decorative materials, gifts, food packaging, signs and packaging.

Although the scope of application of the thermal transfer process seems to be all-encompassing, in reality, there are still some workpieces that cannot be printed on the surface using the thermal transfer process.

2 Methods for judging which products are suitable for thermal transfer
How to judge which products are suitable for thermal transfer? Next, I will share with you some of the experience I have accumulated over the years:

Based on the experience accumulated over the years, to determine whether which products are suitable for thermal transfer, in addition to the above-mentioned substrates that are known to be suitable for thermal transfer technology, some substrates that are not suitable for thermal transfer technology can also be identified from the following aspects:

Thermal transfer process

1. Substrate material:
Some substrates are difficult or impossible to use for thermal transfer technology.

For example, stainless steel without spray paint, wood without cover paint, substrates with two-component paint on the surface, silicone, substrates that cannot withstand heat and pressure, low-pressure materials for blow molding, etc.

2. The shape of the substrate:
Some substrates are difficult or impossible to use for thermal transfer technology, such as substrates with uneven surfaces, substrates that are too large or too small, substrates with too large or too small printing areas, etc.

3. For some substrates, since it is impossible to make accurate identification from a theoretical point of view, they must be identified through thermal transfer test hot stamping.
